What role do YOU play in your community?

Our second graders have been hard at work creating community in the classroom and in the school. We have taken the lead in counting donations to our Coin Drive for Hurricane Harvey where we offered support to schools that were affected by the devastation. We continue to advertise school spirit days through public service announcements and posters. We will be on the forefront for Walk and Roll days throughout the year.

Along with this building of community, we have begun to dive into our own personal histories, realizing that each and every one of us has a family member who came from another country to live in the United States. They may have come via boat, horse, walking, and plane because they all wanted a better life. It is as much true today as it was 200 years ago.

With our visits to the Oak Mound Cemetery and with our up-coming visits to the museum and with our mayor, Shaun McCaffrey, we will continue to see that our history is an important element of our lives. There is so much to learn!
